Idol Talk Book

“In the midst of acne, social anxiety and training bras are the teen idols that make adolescent life a little more bearable. Whether their cutouts are plastered on bedroom walls or hidden behind locker doors, there is no denying the impact of these stars on young women.

This collection of new essays explores with tenderness and humor the teen crushes of the past 50 years–from Elvis to John Lennon to Diana Ross–who have influenced the choices of women, romantically or otherwise, well into adulthood.”

Paper Camera book cover

“A timely history of one of the oldest nonprofit literary presses in the country, Paper Camera is an anthology full of lively essays that document the story of the press.

Among the twenty-two essay and poem contributors are award-winning authors Charles Baxter, David Haynes, Deborah Keenan, Mark Vinz, Clint McCown, and Minnesota Poet Laureate Joyce Stuphen.”

New Rivers Press Anthology

“As part of my Stonecoast experience, I had the unique opportunity of serving an internship at New Rivers Press, a small press associated with Minnesota State University Moorhead. My time there was so rich and fulfilling, learning the internal workings that go into the publication of a book, that I later opted to write a short memoir of the experience. As a way to say “thank you” to all the dedicated staff who took me in as one of their own for several months, I sent the Press a copy of my manuscript.

To my astonishment, they contacted me shortly thereafter to ask if my work could be included in an Anthology of essays being published in honor of their 50th Anniversary Celebration. Titled Paper Camera: A Half Century with New Rivers Press, the book came to fruition in January of 2015. My first major publishing opportunity, it was an emotional moment. It sits in a place of honor on a shelf in my family room today!”
